Sick leave insurance
If a crewmember becomes temporarily unfit for work due to illness or an accident, he is entitled to EU citizens continued payment of wages. The law requires that you continue paying wages for two years. The sick leave insurance policy provides you with a compensation for the wages you have to continue paying to a sick employee or an employee unfit for work. Legislation in the form of the Eligibility for Permanent Incapacity Benefit (Restrictions) Act (Wet verbetering poortwachter) requires that you make an effort to prevent and limit absenteeism of employees.

Our sick leave insurance policy includes the services provided by Maritime absenteeism support service (Maritiem Verzuimsupport). By actively giving information and advice the Maritime absenteeism support team helps you with controlling absenteeism.
